"Take me out to the ballgame..."

LET'S GO ASTROS!!!!

Guess where I was on Wendsday evening? THE BASEBALL GAME! I went with Dad, Mr. Duren and Emily Duren. James, Caleb and Mr.Oakley came as well, but in a different car and they had different seats.
After much screaming, yelling, cheering, hooting, rooting, clapping, waving and jumping up and down, the Houston Astros beat Minnesota 5 to 3!!! Yeah!!
It was so much fun! The only dissapointing thing about it was that my favorite player wasn't playing that night. :( Oh well, I have actually 4 favorites, Biggio, Wilson, Berkman and Bakke (who wasn't there.).

"...Root, root, root for the home team, if they don't win it's a shame. For it's one, two, three strikes your out at the old ballgame!"

It was an awesome night. And I'm so glad that I could go!

Updates...(like usual)

We've had a very interesting month so far. To begin, Dad, Mom, Christa, and William flew off to San Diego, California for a church meeting of some sort. Tiffany and Emma stayed with the Durens, and Melissa, Caleb, Abigail, Grace, and myself stayed with the Carter family. Only one word can describe our stay...FUN!
The first day we ate homemade pizza, watched Sense and Sensibility, ate some popcorn, and went to bed. The second day we played cards, read books, watched kids, ate meals, and to top it off we watched an awesome movie called The Ghost and Mrs Muir, a movie made in the 30's or 40's starring Rex Harrison!!! It was very good...Bethany C. and I cried alot and yelled a bit at the screen (Uncle Neddy, indeed...!). It was a very exciting night. lol.
The next day we did about the same things as I mentioned before, except that at about 5:00 or so in the evening Mrs. Carter was hosting a food presentation, so a couple of familys came over and we (Melissa, Bethany and I) received the task of keeping the kids quiet and under control. So we listened to music and played yet another card game (Egyptian Rapture!!!) . Only this time Bethany got a bit violent with those long nails of hers...but you probably don't want to hear about that. :) (lol. Don't worry, we weren't trying to kill each other. She accidently poked me with her nails when we both went to slap the card in our game. But I was quickly contented with my Spiderman bandaid.:) lol.)

The next morning, we left the house with all the girls (Caleb and Sam stayed home with Grandpa Carter.) and made our way to a quilting guild meeting that Mrs. Carter is a part of. Then Mrs Carter took a friend of hers to the Marine/Navy Reserve center to pick up something. Bethany and I wanted to get a Marine's autograph...but Mrs. Carter didn't go for that. :) Actually, the real reason we wanted to is because Bethany has a "Marine Corps" deck of cards and she wanted to get those signed. *sigh* oh well. :) We finally got back to the Carter house. Bethany and I dressed up 20's style and performed a song for her Grandpa. It was very funny (the song...I'm not so sure about us!!). To end our stay, Dad and Mom came and picked us up and we came home. But we had such an exciting time! Thank you Carter Family!!!

Well, soon it was the SETHSA conference. So everybody except Mom, Christa, and William pack into the van and head off to the Reliant Center (right by Reliant Stadium.). I had such a good time!! I saw many friend that I haven't seen in a very long time and we had a marvelous time talking, laughing and remembering. Generation Joshua was also there having their campaigning thing. :) I voted for the person who won at the end. Funny how that always happens...lol. The sad thing about leaving the conference was that I won't see anyone that I saw there until the next conference...next year! :( *sigh*

Well, my older brother picked Caleb and I up early from the conference and we headed off to my Aunt's wedding. (Dad and Tiffany didn't get to go.) It was really lovely. Mom told me to watch the grooms face when the bride came down the aisle, so I did. It was so sweet to see his face light up the minute he saw her! They make a lovely couple. The reception was a beautiful event as well. And the food was wonderful. When the music started and people went to the dance floor, Caleb and I got up and danced a bit. It's so nice to have a brother. :) We danced to What a Wonderful World. After a while, we made our way home and collapsed...exhausted...in bed. It was such an exciting night!

Several weeks later we had yet another event! Tiffany, Melissa, Dad, and I painted the parlor and dining room!! It was so much fun! I'll have to post pictures soon (since we got LOTS of them!!) Actually, I have pictures of a lot of the events I've talked about, so when I get a chance I'll post them (or try to!).

Prayer Request

God really is in control. A friend from church headed up to Ohio several weeks ago for a surgery. Reece Oakley has Spina bifida. After much prayer, he went into surgery and…by the grace of God; he came out of the surgery room actually better than he went in! What I ask of you is that you would pray for him as he recovers from this tedious surgery and that he will be granted peace and courage for the days to come. His family is still in Ohio right now, but I have been told that they will probably be back in the Lone Star State before the 4^th of July, so that we will be able to celebrate that glorious day with them. I am including some pictures of him from his surgery and of his family. We miss you soooo much, Oakley family! Y’all are in our prayers!

Summertime

Swimming! What fun! Probably one of the better things that summertime brings to us in Texas. Lying In the pool, or tanning in the sun! Tiffany and I took the kids swimming the other day in our 2 by 8 ft pool that lays in our backyard. After several hours of soaking in the water, Tiffany and I made up our minds to lay a towel in the grass and lay in the warm comfort of the sun. So that’s what we did. And it was very fun, being able to sit and chat about everything that’s happening. And since we had such an exciting time, I feel I must post some pictures of our exciting day.

What a night! Yesterday evening Tiff and I went over to the tea room to help serve for a bridal shower. We were expecting 22 people. The woman hosting it said there would be 22 people. So what do we do? Being the smart people that we are, we decided (Tiff and I made their meal of Lemon Garlic Chicken and Ms Wintra made the mashed potatoes.) to make 30 big pieces of chicken. After all, more people might just show up...right? Not exactly.
11 people showed up. It was kind of dissapointing, but at the same time alright, since then we would not have so much to do, and we could leave to go home earlier.
It ended up being a fun night. I love waitressing at our tea room and it was a good experience.

I also was thinking about a certain song today. It's an excellent song sung by one of my favorite groups. Here are the words (tell me what you think!):

Home Again

There is a saying that goes, "Home is where the heart is." and it is too true. We've been gone from home for so long, and met so many wonderful, godly encouraging families who have opened their homes and churches to us. I've had such an exciting time seeing lovely places in the world, such as Niagara Falls and Yellowstone Park (to name a few.). But nothing can replace the beauty of stepping into my own home, and having the blood rush through me as I tell myself that I am finally home. Home. It's such a wonderful word, isn't it? Ahh. Well, anyway, I suppose now is the time that I tell you about my freakiest experience on this trip (or any other, for that matter!). *deep breath*

Well, Mom, Tiffany and William ended up driving to the Arlington homeschool convention (since Mom is thankfully better!). So since they came up, we found ourselves with two vehicles in our hands. So, when it was time to depart, Mom, Tiffany, Melissa, William and Abigail took the car, and Dad, Christa, Caleb, Emma, Grace and Myself took the van and the trailer. So anyway, here we are driving along at about 7:30 after a thoroughly exhausting day at the conference (and tear-down afterwards!). Dad and I are singing The Great Adventure at the top of our lungs (I'm trying to stay awake. That was my duty, since I was in the front seat with Dad.), Christa is crossstiching, and the kids are watching a movie. Suddenly, I hear Grace start to give this terrified cry. I switch off the music. Dad says, "What's wrong, Grace?" "It's a grasshopper, Dad!" Caleb announces as he flings off his headphones to look at this disgusting creature. I lost it. I started crying and begging Christa to kill it or catch it. It was the biggest grasshopper I've ever seen. And it hopped! Everyone's freaking out, Dad's telling us to calm down, and Christa is trying to catch it with a coffee cup that we had on hand.
Note: for those who don't already know, I hate bugs. I mean I hate bugs. I'm scared to death of them. Especially one's that hop, scurry, or are ugly. I think the only kind of bug I can handle is a snail (those are still gross, but I can run from them because they're slow.), and ant or a ladybug (as long as no one puts it one me!).
Anyway, so the bug gets lost. No one can find it in our messy van (remember, we've been traveling for 4 weeks!) and I really start to freak out. I looked around me frantically to make sure that it was no where near me. But the mere thought of something hopping on me made me freak out again. Well, luckily we finally found it (no where near me, thankfully.) in the back of the van, Christa caught it in the coffee cup, twisted the lid on and put it in the back of the car (away from me!). Needless to say, I still couldn't sit with ease in that car, and I looked about me every few seconds.

So all in all, we had a very interesting trip and had many things happen to us (both good and bad.). I thank the Lord that we are safely home without any broken bones or damaged vehicles, and that home is still as welcoming as it has always been. Sunday was a very happy day for all of us, since we finally got to see most of our church family again (some families were on trips.).
Oh, and we voted on our church name. It's new title is Crown and Covenant Reformed Presbyterian Church. I love it. I'm going to close now, since we still have much to get caught up with in our household.
